This past weekend, STEM Minds was thrilled to be a vendor at the Aurora Street Festival, one of York Region’s largest community events! It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with families and showcase the exciting world of STEM education.
Three Stops, Endless Learning
We set up not one, not two, but three interactive stations to engage kids of all ages. Our first booth highlighted our innovative collaboration with Boreal Farms for the Agritech program. Visitors learned about the future of agriculture and how technology is shaping sustainable farming practices.
Next door, we had a dedicated summer camp zone. Eager young minds explored our diverse camp offerings for July and August, from coding adventures to robotics challenges.
But the real star of the show was our interactive play area! Here, kids got hands-on experience with a variety of robots, including the user-friendly Bee-Bots, playful Dash Bots, and the more advanced mBots. It is a great introduction to the word of programming through play!
From Rainy Start to Busy Buzz
The festival kicked off with a sprinkle, but luckily the rain soon cleared, and our booths were buzzing with activity. The enthusiasm from the kids (and their parents!) was contagious. It was wonderful to witness their curiosity and eagerness to learn more about STEM concepts through play.
A Winning Combination
Our FTC competition robot also drew a crowd. It was a great conversation starter, sparking discussions about teamwork,problem-solving, and the challenges (and triumphs!) of robotics engineering.
Overall, the Aurora Street Festival was a resounding success for STEM Minds. We connected with our community, ignited a passion for STEM in young minds, and had a blast doing it!
