Our team was at the AgriTech Hack-a-Thon in Beamsville this past weekend supporting one of our partners, Spark Niagara!

Spark Lincoln has partnered with the Town of Lincoln to bring Niagara’s first AgriTech Hackathon. The goal of this initiative is to bring in businesses, education, technology, and communities to take part in solving issues affecting the modern agricultural sector. This will be completed through the use of technology and local participation, which in turn will contribute to the region’s economic growth and advancement in a bright and innovative future.

What is an AGRITECH HACKATHON?

A hackathon is an event that fosters innovation and collaboration with the goal of expanding technology development. Current challenges in the agricultural industry are identified and tech solutions are proposed. Multiple teams are asked to find probable solutions to a series of given challenges for the agriculture and eco-tourism sectors.

The AgriTech Hackathon is designed to not only help solve problems, but enable a connection and conversation between our rural and urban communities.

The teams participating in the competition will be from across the Province of Ontario and Canada. These teams will work to find the best solutions to agricultural and climate issues submitted by local experts and will compete for cash prizes and business exposure.

The STEM Minds team was at the Hack-a-Thon showcasing some of the innovative technologies available to participants to help them with their designs and innovative ideas. We loved seeing all of the amazing ideas that participants came up, the future is definitely in good hands!
