STEM Minds’ Community Nights, Sponsored by FIRST Robotics
In the ever-evolving landscape of education, fostering a love for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) has never been more important. Sponsored by FIRST Robotics, our community nights here at STEM Minds were driven by our commitment to nurture young minds and shape future innovators in the world of STEM. Free to the public, these community events made STEM learning accessible to everyone.
These events allowed students to discover the world of STEM in small digestible segments. During one evening a month, a new topic was introduced to students between the ages of 4 and 14. Some of these themes included coding, animation, and video game design. These workshops also provided parents and students a glimpse of the type of tools and techniques employed in our programs, allowing them to make more informed decisions if and when registering for our paid programs.
With over 120 students who participated in our Community Nights over the school year 2022-2023, our reach within the community has grown considerably. Remarkably, more than 70% of these participants have expressed their enjoyment in the workshops, and indicated they were very likely to return to STEM Minds for future programming.
These Community Nights weren’t just about learning; they were about igniting a lifelong passion for STEM. They created an atmosphere where children were able to ask questions, experiment, and collaborate with their peers. It was about fostering a sense of wonder and curiosity that extends far beyond the event itself, encouraging youth to explore STEM subjects further and perhaps even pursue STEM careers in the future.
