On Tuesday, July 29, we were honored to welcome MP Sandra Cobena and her assistant to the STEM Minds facility. MP Cobena took the time to connect with our dedicated coaches, engage with a number of enthusiastic campers, and speak with members of the Canada Summer Jobs Grant (CSJG) team.
During her visit, MP Cobena expressed her genuine admiration for our facility and the quality of our programs. Above all, she was most impressed by the high level of engagement and excitement she witnessed among the students. She spent time with a group of 8 to 14-year-olds, answering their questions and sharing words of encouragement.
MP Cobena toured our Maker Lab, explored our hands-on robotics stations, and even tried out some of the tech tools herself. As a mother of three, she showed a personal appreciation for the work STEM Minds is doing to introduce children to the world of technology and innovation. She highlighted the importance of providing youth with opportunities to explore STEM education in a hands-on, supportive environment.
Her visit was part of STEM Minds’ Community Open-Door approach—our commitment to transparency, collaboration, and community engagement. As many of our readers know, STEM Minds hosts monthly Community Night events that are free and open to the public. These evenings have been met with enthusiastic participation and have become a cherished part of our outreach efforts.
We sincerely thank MP Cobena for taking the time to visit, engage with our team and youth, and support initiatives that empower the next generation of innovators.
