Virtual STEM Camp (Ages 8 – 14)


Kids stuck at home over the next few weeks? Keep your kids engaged and learning all from the comfort of their own home with STEM Minds Virtual STEM Camps!

Join our expert staff in learning about awesome topics like 3D design, video game design, coding, and more all from home. Our staff deliver lessons virtually and are available live to help provide targeted guidance and assistance to students as they work through awesome activities and projects.

Location: From your home! A link to join our virtual classroom will be provided in a separate email once you have registered.

Ages: 8-14

Dates & Times: Monday – Friday during all weeks of school closures. Please note that all class times are in EST (Toronto) time zone.

Onboarding Procedure:

If you have completed your registration before 10:00 am on the Saturday preceding the start of the virtual camp, you will receive a full onboarding email by the Saturday evening.

If you complete your registration after 10:00 am on the Saturday preceding the start of the virtual camp, please allow up to 24 hours to receive your onboarding email.

Please add [email protected] to your approved senders list in order to ensure you receive all email communications. 

Please note that enrolment for all virtual camps closes at 3:00 pm the Sunday prior to the start of camp in order to allow for adequate time for clients to review our onboarding materials.

You are responsible for reviewing the onboarding email in detail and being prepared with all materials before the class start time. Class begins promptly at the listed start time. 

Technology Requirements:

In order to participate in STEM Minds Virtual STEM Camps, you will require a computer with an internet connection and will need to download Zoom video conferencing software. While an iPad/tablet can be used to join the call, it will not be sufficient to participate in activities.

Some camps may require additional downloads of software. Please see the camp descriptions at the bottom of this page for more information.

All logins to access software and platforms will be provided by STEM Minds in a separate email.

Week 12: June 1 – 5

Option A: STEAM Explorers | 10:00 – 11:30 pm EST

Get hands-on as you explore the best of what the world of STEM has to offer! Take a deep dive into some of our most popular topics like Video Game Design, 3D Design, Coding and more! This week, we’re also exploring Minecraft, so it’s sure to be a hit!

Monday: 3D Design | Tuesday: Coding with Scratch | Wednesday: Video Game Design | Thursday: Minecraft Part 1 | Friday: Minecraft Part 2

**You will need to download Minecraft for Education in order to participate in this camp. NO OTHER VERSION OF MINECRAFT WILL WORK FOR THIS CAMP. We will provide you with your login information. Click here to download Minecraft for Education. 

Option B: Coding with Processing | 1:00 – 2:30 pm EST

Combine the worlds of art and computers as you dive into Coding with Processing! A programming language made for creatives, Processing is a language all about electronic arts and visual design. Through a variety of hands-on challenges, students will learn a new programming language as they discover the creative side of code!


Week 13: June 8 – 12

Option A: Video Game Design (Beginner) | 10:00 – 11:30 am EST

Why just play video games when you can make them? Join us as we go through the journey of a video game designer and learn how to design, create, and program your very own fully playable video game using Flowlab!

Option B: Video Game Design (Advanced) | 1:00 – 2:30 pm EST

Ready to take your game design skills to the next level? Get started with Unity, one of the premier video game development programs in the world! Gain hands-on experience in the Unity editor as you build your very own 2D or 3D game. Along the way, learn about important game development concepts like how to create objects, components, collisions, and more!

**You will need to download Unity software in order to participate in this camp. Please note that a laptop/desktop computer is required to participate in this course. A Chromebook or an iPad will not work. Please click here to download. 

**Please note that this advanced camp is only open to students ages 10+ who have previously fully completed our Video Game Design camp or course. 

Week 14: June 15 – 19

Option A: Web & App Development| 10:00 – 11:30 am EST

Digital technologies are changing the future at a rapid pace; take control of technology and become a digital creator with web and app development! Create your own apps and websites as we learn about coding and programming, quality design, user experience and user interface, as well as marketing and testing.

Option B: Computer Music | 1:00 – 2:30 pm EST

Explore the connections between STEM and the music industry.  Through a variety of projects, students will learn about important music theory as they create their own musical compositions. No prior musical experience is needed to participate in this camp.

Week 15: June 22 – 26

Option A: Animation | 10:00 – 11:30 am EST

Have an artist on your hands? Take their learning to the next level with our new 2D animation camp! Students will explore the basics of great video making as they create their own cartoons from start to finish! From initial storyboarding, to sound design, to final presentations students will explore the exciting process of animation!

Option B: Minecraft | 1:00 – 2:30 pm EST

Minecraft: Challenge Mode! Each day we will explore different challenges as we use Minecraft to discover the world of design, engineering, and more! From re-building famous landmarks to designing a functional roller coaster, it has never been more fun to dive into engineering!
