We are thrilled to share that STEM Minds has been recognized with the Green Award at the 2025 Town of Aurora Community Recognition Awards. This award means so much to our team, and we are incredibly proud to be acknowledged for our commitment to environmental education and sustainable innovation.
Celebrating Youth-Led Environmental Action
The Green Award celebrates individuals and organizations that show outstanding leadership in the protection, preservation, and sustainability of the natural environment. At STEM Minds, this mission is at the heart of what we do. From the beginning, our goal has been to empower youth through hands-on STEM learning that goes beyond the classroom and into the real world—especially when it comes to sustainability.
Through some of our programs, students have the opportunity to explore Agri-Tech, climate science, green technologies, and more. Whether they’re building smart farming tools with microcontrollers, developing prototypes with recycled materials, or exploring how AI can support environmental data analysis, our students are building the skills and mindset needed to tackle the environmental challenges of tomorrow.
A Moment of Gratitude
To be recognized by the Town of Aurora in a room full of inspiring community leaders and volunteers was both humbling and energizing. We are grateful to Mayor Tom Mrakas and the selection committee for this honour, and we congratulate all of the evening’s nominees and award recipients.
The theme of the night—comparing volunteers to constellations—was a powerful reminder of how our individual efforts connect to form something greater. We are proud to be part of that constellation, doing our part to guide and inspire the next generation of changemakers.
Community at the Core
This award reflects not only our educational efforts, but also our deep connection to the Aurora community. Over the past year, we’ve had the privilege of participating in events like the Aurora Street Festival where we’ve brought hands-on activities to youth and families, helping bridge the gap between STEM and sustainability.
These community events are an extension of our mission: to make high-quality, future-ready learning experiences accessible and meaningful. It is through these partnerships and moments of connection that we’re able to amplify our impact and bring real-world relevance to our students’ learning.
Looking Forward
Receiving the Green Award is both a milestone and a motivator. It validates the hard work of our team and students, but also pushes us to continue innovating, collaborating, and growing. We are more committed than ever to helping youth understand their role as environmental stewards—and giving them the tools, confidence, and creativity to lead.
Thank you to our supporters, our families, our partners, and most of all, our students. This recognition belongs to all of us.
Here’s to building a brighter, greener future—together.
