Frequently Asked Questions
What time is drop-off and pick-up?
Drop off for camp begins at 8:45 AM with pick up beginning at 3:45 PM. Extended care options are also available at an additional cost to suit your schedule. If your child will be arriving late or picked up early please send us prior notification via email to info@stemminds.com.
The 4 to 7 year old camp is located upstairs. Parents are asked to accompany their child while using the stairs and make sure their child is using the stairs safely (holding on to the railing, watching where they are going, and walking slowly).
Will my child be going outside during camp?
Do I need to provide lunch for my child?
What do I do if my child is sick?
What if someone else will be picking my child up from camp?
My children have been in your camp before. Will they be doing new activities?
Our camp themes are designed to provide a focus during the day. We always introduce new activities during our camps. If students have used a tool before, they will always be provided with choices for different tools and activities so either they are building deep expertise in a tool / topic or just exploring and broadening their learning experience. We encourage our campers to speak up and advocate for their learning experience.
If I don’t want my child to do an activity or have preferences, how will these be addressed?
What safety protocols are in place for my child to have a safe learning experience.
STEM Minds takes pride in operating a student centric learning environment. We have health and safety protocols in place. Our staff are all FIRST AID Trained and have Police Vulnerable Sector Checks (PVSC) as required by law. We maintain a maximum of 1:8 – staff to student ratio to ensure we can support the individual student needs. We have behaviour policies in place to ensure all children feel safe. We encourage students to advocate for themselves so we can support them in their individual needs. Our partnership with parents is pivotal for this positive experience.
If a child gets injured outdoors, we will communicate and work with their parent or guardian on finding the best method to bring their child back to camp. If there is a serious injury (e.g., head or spine injury, severe bleeding, seizure, etc.), an ambulance will be called to the location where the injury occurred. A staff member will accompany the child to the hospital if the parent or guardian is not at the scene.
